Pastor Sammy Reed was born May 3, 1969 in Cincinnati, OH to the proud parents Sam & Patty Reed. He grew up in a little church known as Miracle Temple Pentecostal Church, pastored by his grandpa Letcher Turner of Breathit County, KY. His roots rich with Pentecostal heritage ran deep, all from the Appalachian mountains of Kentucky, his father’s parents were Reeds and Gibsons , his mother’s side was Turners & Gabbards. After his grandfather’s death his father made a difficult decision to move the family north to Middletown, Oh. They settled in a little community know as Poastown. Here Sammy attended school and while in his senior year at Madison High School, at the age of 17, he gave his heart to the Lord.
Pastor Sammy can vividly recall that wonderful night his life was ever more changed. “Pastor Dave Bowling was our pastor. Oh, that night the spirit was moving so strong in that church. I can remember the look in Pastor Bowlings eyes; it was as if he was starring right through me! I sat there as long as I could and then I ran towards the altar with my arm stretched out. When I got to Pastor Dave I grabbed his hand and said I need to get saved!”
Little did Pastor Sammy know that his journey as a Christian wasn’t the only great thing that came from that little church in Franklin, OH? It was while attending that same church on a Sunday morning that a singing group was scheduled to minister. They were known as the ‘Singing Highsmiths’ they came all the way from Plant City, Florida. As soon as Pastor Bowling invited the group to take the stage, Pastor Sammy immediately noticed the keyboard player; her name was Sherry and oh was he quite smitten by her.
Sherry was born in Orlando,FL she was the eldest daughter of Robert and Shirley Highsmith. She was a natural born singer and had been raised in church her entire life she gave her heart to the lord in her early childhood. Sherry’s parents used to take her a stand her up on a chair so she could sing in church, at the young age of 12 she found herself aboard a 45ft Silver Eagle traveling around the country spreading the good news of Jesus. Little did she know that some years later in Franklin,OH that she would meet her future husband Sammy. He proceeded to follow that group as they toured Ohio and Michigan and became a instant “Groupie.”
When it came time for that big Silver Eagle tour bus to head south again, he found himself totally sick, love sick that is. So he knew he had to make a move on this girl who he felt was an angel sent from above. On the eve of their departure Pastor Sammy proposed to Sherry and just months later they were married in Plant City, Florida.
Today the couple Pastor “Community Pentecostal Worship Center” in Germantown, OH ; true to continuing the heritage of Pentecost, Blurring the lines of manmade traditions, standing strong in the spirit and plentiful in faith. Pastors Sammy and Sherry both are highly sought after evangelists and their ministry is rapidly spreading across the country. They have four children: Stephanie, Samantha, Shelby, and Sammy Jr. The Reed Sister’s; Steph, Samantha and Shelby have been blessed to sing at venues such as “Solid Rock Church” Monroe, Oh “Community Family Church” Independence, KY to mention a few across the tri-state.
